Public Works
The Public Works Department provides a wide range of routine and specialized services.
Some of the responsibilities of the Public Works department and services they provide include:
- Maintenance and repair of the city streets
- Paving and striping
- Street sign repair
- Sidewalk and curb repair
- Maintenance of trees on the road right-of-ways
- Grounds maintenance of all water and sewer facilities
- City vehicle maintenance
- Facility maintenance
- Repair and maintenance of the City's water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure
The Public Works Department also oversees all operations pertaining to city water and wastewater utility systems, stormwater systems including swales, inlets, and retention ponds.
Our Goals & Objectives
Daily operations are geared towards customer service along with maintaining, upgrading, and expanding the various areas of services provided throughout the City. Our staff is available Monday through Friday between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.
We are dedicated to providing an uninterrupted, optimum utility system to our residents.

For any after-hours emergencies, please call the Lake County Sheriff's Non-Emergency Office at 352-343-2101 and an on-call public works employee will be dispatched to your location.

Robb Dicus
As a dedicated member of the community of Fruitland Park living and working within the community for over 44 years, I have deep roots in our city. I grew up here, attended Fruitland Park Elementary, and graduated from Leesburg High School. I earned my A.A. from Lake Sumter Community College and spent several years at the University of Central Florida continuing my education, eventually becoming a commercial plumber and working in the construction industry for 15 years.
In 2013, I returned to serve my hometown in the Public Works Department. After gaining experience in all department areas from 2013 to 2021, I became the director. Leading a team of 15, we maintain city roads, public water, and sewer systems, as well as all facilities outside of the city parks which are managed by the recreation department. Witnessing our city's growth and the challenges that come with it, I strive to balance progress with preserving our community's spirit and history in Fruitland Park.
