Got a few old parts lying around the yard? Gather them up and start planning out your ride now!  

Spectators are welcome to watch the race on Saturday, June 13th. The race will be located on Foxhill Rd in Fruitland Park. (Right next to iBarbque and Connection Point Church)

This event will be held on: 

Test and Tune: Tuesday, June 9th at 6pm 

Race: Saturday, June 13th at 10am 

Registration deadline: Tuesday, June 9th

Registration fee: $25 per driver / Must be 5 or older to register.

NO KIT KARTS ALLOWED; DERBY KARTS WILL BE DESIGNED BASED ON A ‘LITTLE RASCALS’ DIVISION.

2026 DERBY KART RULES

  1. Your Derby Kart will be issued an official approved sticker after it has passed inspection. No alterations to your Derby Kart will be allowed after the sticker is issued.
  2. It is expected that all drivers and people in their pit crew will act in a sportsmanlike manner at all times. Anyone who does not uphold the requests of the race officials may be expelled from the race.
  3. There will be race officials along the racecourse to make sure that participants stay within their lanes and to ensure that fair racing is maintained.
  4. There will be race officials at the start & finish line.
  5. On race day, the derby official has the authority to reject and eliminate from the race any vehicle which he/she believes is unsafe or does not conform to the specifications.
  6. Protective full faced head gear and elbow pads must be worn during each race. Head gear can be helmet of any kind but must cover entire head and face.
  7. To maintain fairness and family fun, we ONLY permit home-built Derby Karts. Professional kit race karts will NOT be allowed.

Specs:

  1. Derby Kart must be powerless. No motor’s allowed.
  2. A minimum ground clearance of 3” must be met when the driver is seated in the Derby Kart.
  3. The Derby Kart must have a functioning brake system sufficient to stop the kart from 20 mph.
  4. The body of the Derby Kart can be made of wood, fiberglass, plastic, or metal. The body will not enclose the cockpit seating area and must permit free use of the hands and arms.
  5. The head cannot be confined by the Derby Kart.
  6. No sharp edges or protruding objects are permitted on the exterior or interior of the Derby Kart.
  7. Closed-toed shoes MUST be worn at all times in and around Derby.
  8. Bottom of Derby Kart must have a closed floor pan.

MANDATORY QUALIFICATION will be having 2 divisions for the derby. A beginners track and an advanced track. We will be having a Test and Tune on the Tuesday prior to race day, June 9th @ 6p.m. At the racetrack located at Foxhill Rd. Fruitland Park. Each driver and kart will be required to complete one full pass to see which track your driver and kart qualify to race on. The advanced track has potential to go over 20 mph. Karts or drivers that officials do not feel is safe to race on the advanced track, will be assigned to race on the beginner’s track.

FINAL INSPECTION ON RACE DAY:

Every Derby Kart will be inspected with the driver in the seat prior to the start of the race.

THE RACE:

The staging course will begin at Foxhill Rd. Fruitland Park.

Drivers and karts need to arrive at staging location by 9 a.m.

Any Further Instructions will be made on race day at the drivers meeting prior to race time.

The race will begin at 10:00 a.m.

Absolutely no changes may be made to any Derby Kart once it has been inspected and received an approval sticker.

In the event of damage to a Derby Kart, for example where the driver hits a curb, repairs can be made to the extent that as little work as necessary is done to allow the Derby Kart to continue racing, and it must pass safety inspection before being allowed to continue.

We will be having prizes for race placements, as well as best in show!
