Water Safety Day
Water Safety Day is an annual water safety and drowning prevention event with the goal of keeping Lake County children safe around lakes and pools.
The Florida Department of Health in Lake County, the Lake County Public Safety Department, Lake Emergency Medical Service Inc., along with participating municipalities and community partners, have joined together with Swimming for Life to host Water Safety Day.
The purpose of Water Safety Day is to educate the community about drowning prevention. Adults and children learn how to be safer in, on and around the water.
Demonstrations on:
• How to properly fit a life jacket,
• CPR,
• Reach or Throw but Don't Go,
• Mock drowning rescue with lifeguards, fire department and Lake EMS, and
• Staying safe around water in the home
