Recreation Department


The Fruitland Park Recreation Department oversees the scheduling and operation of many activities throughout the year.

Sport programs are offered based on interest. The Recreation office is located within Gardenia Park at the intersection of Gardenia Drive and LaVista Street.


Baseball & Softball Fields:
Within our city we have two well maintained baseball fields and one softball field. These are located at Cales Park and Veterans Park.


Soccer Field:
Located within Gardenia Park is our soccer field.


Handball/ Raquetball Court:
Lighted courts are located within Gardenia Park and are open everyday from dawn till dusk and is open to all ages. We ask that you keep your play time limited to one hour when others are waiting.


Skateboard Park
This is located within Gardenia Park. Safety equipment is required – helmet, elbow and knee pads. WAIVERS MUST BE SIGNED AT THE TIME ID CARD ARE ISSUED- persons under 17 must have a parents signature on waiver. ID CARDS are issued at the Building Department within City Hall from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.



Municipal Swimming Pool:
During the swim season the pool is open daily. Season begins in May and generally ends in September. Open swim sessions are scheduled as well as swim lessons. The pool may be rented for special occasions.


Fishing Pier:
A fishing pier is located within Veterans Park.


Tennis Courts:
Two lighted tennis courts are located within Veterans Park. Tennis lessons are offered year round for both Youth and Adults.


Children’s Playground:
Playgrounds are located at Gardenia, Cales, and Veteran’s Park. There is also a children’s playground located on Olive Avenue.


Volleyball Court:
A sand court is located at Gardenia Park.


Senior Socials at the casino:
A covered dish carry-in luncheon for our senior citizens is sponsored by the City on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month. A program of some type is usually planned.


Lake Griffin State Park:
Fruitland Park is the Gateway to Lake Griffin State Park. Situated on the shores of Lake Griffin, this park features camping, canoe rental, hiking trails, playground and a picnic area. Lake Griffin connects with the central Florida chain of Lakes and the St. Johns river, eventually emptying into the Atlantic.

Volunteers:
Volunteers are always needed and much appreciated. Interested persons should visit the Recreation Office in person to complete a volunteer form. Yearly background checks are required for all volunteers.
