The Building Department is provides services in several areas of land use such as annexations, rezoning, subdivisions, site plans and the issuing of building permits. Building permits usually are issued the same day unless plan review is required. To help prevent loss of life and property in commercial buildings, the department coordinates annual fire safety inspections. Information on FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Maps and flood zone locations is provided upon request. Occupational licenses are issued for commercial, professional and home occupations that are valid from October 1st through September 30th upon presentation of a current Lake County license.
